The night was warm and dark but the wind was blowing softly and pushing the leaves that hung in the nearby trees. The moon was only a thin slit in the sky as it reflected off of the bright yellowgreen eyes of a she-cat. Paws moved slowly and carefully along the edge of the waterfall as a two toned face stared into the darkness of the water that bubbled around stones at the upper ridge. Pelt shown in brindled hues of yellow and black over most of her body, though most was engulfed by darkness. Patches of yellow could barely be spotted over her sides and tail, but got wider as they reached the left side of her face, which was almost completely yellow streaked with multi tones of the earth.
Slowly the she-cat retreated to her haunches, and stretched out her front paws, laying down at the very edge of the falls and looking over. Ears twitched slightly and rested low on the sides of her head. Tail curled behind her and twitched back and forth with amusement. One paw draped over the rocks, stretching out to catch the misty air that rose from the falling water. Nostrils took in the scents around her, this place was her home, and she was happy to be here, but the thought lingered in her mind what it would be like to step over the edge of these rocks and let her soul be cast from it's earthy form. Eyes closed and a smile tugged at her muzzle.
It was a long time before she opened them again, and when she did it was with a look of sadness. Lungs drew in a deep breath and released it in a low and long yowl that lasted for a few moments and seemed to linger in the air as thick as the silence around her. Twoface knew she shouldn't have been out this late at night, and the sun would be rising soon enough as it was. She sighed softly as her head lay to rest on one front paw, the other still dangling over the edge. Tail flipped around uneasily as her mind rambled over her thoughts, dragging her into an unconscious state of mind.
In her mind she was forgotten about, forgotten by everyone and unwanted by the cats around her, an outcast even in her own clan. Sure she would fight for them, give her life for the clan, but that seemed to be all she was good for. No one appreciated her sense of humor or fun, just called her demented or the quiet one. Obeying orders or being alone, that's all she seemed to ever do anymore. Eyes flickered open just long enough to see that the horizon was already brightening, and the moon starting to fade.
