Foxstar was a red blur as she raced across the clearing. The young leader was not lacking is strength or stamina. It was clear she was excited, even riled about something.
She leapt onto the soft stoned rock looking down at her clan cats with her slanted, fox like yellow eyes. They were ablaze with enthusiasm.
She paused and then sent up a wild yowl "ALL CATS OLD ENOUGH TO CATCH THEIR OWN PREY GATHER BENEATH THE HIGHROCK FOR A CLAN MEETING"!

Nightfang wasn't far behind, leaping through the clearing, his paws moving almost like a rabbit to save energy while still gaining ground with a good amount of speed. He slowed just before reaching the Highrock and sat down, looking up at the leader with a wide eyed expression. He was still a little confused about what had just happened, but was sure Foxstar had everything she needed to know in her head, and that was good enough for him.
His tail wrapped around his paws as his bright yellow eyes turned to watch the others as they started flooding into the clearing. He was panting lightly, excited and hot.

Foxstar looked down at the gathering of cats waiting for more to arrive her back turned to the commotion. A worried expression tainted her eyes but his lips fixed in an unexcusable line, ears flicked forward. If the cats would not arrive, they would face a hard, sturdy discipline by the leader's teeth.
(Yes it's inexcusably short but I'm just trying to get people to post here! Gah)

Grey ears twitched. Amber eyes opened.
Slatekit lay awake but curled in his mossy nest for a few moments, listening to Foxstar. She was calling a meeting.
The mute kit wondered if he was allowed to attend. He knew he was due to become an apprentice soon; he couldn't say he was looking forward to it, because he was so shy and because of the communication barrier. But still.
With a soft sigh, the smoky-haired kitten got to his paws and poked his head around the nursery entrance.
Gazing up at his leader, he wondered whether to step out of the den.
((Mine's short too. I gotta go. My mum's after me to sleep.))

The pounding of paws on dirt made a rhythmic sound as two cats raced along side each other. Firestorm's sister called to her when she could here a faint yowling coming from the camp's direction. Firestorm and Creamshadow both hoped it wasn't an attack, but if it was an attack there would be more yowls and screeches. The small amount of prey Firestorm caught would have to wait for she couldn't risk anything even if it would be hopeless if indeed it was an attack. Their hearts pounded, threating to burst, their lungs and paws burned. The air was sickening.
Creamshadow for the first time had trouble keeping up and was on the verge of falling. Her head felt strangely dizzy. At last they have reached camp, but to their shock and relief cats were only gathering around the High Rock waiting to hear the news of their leader. Both swiftly padded and seated themselves close to the base, no words exchanged, only glances.

(If there are any others, pretend you've been here all along)
The young leader tried to look serious and powerful as she looked down at her clan. Waiting for the commotion to die down and Firestorm to take her seat before she spoke.
Finally in an quiet, but serious voice she stated "My Clan, I am afraid I have some greiviences to go over with you regarding the weather conditions and the predetory problem that has been plaguing us for some time." she allowed a small smile and her slanted, yellow eyes flashed "But first there is a more cheerful manner that needs to be attended to"
She looked down at the kit making sure to sound everything out as she spoke so he could read her maw. "Slatekit, please come forward".

((He's dumb, not deaf ^^ Being deaf'd be a really great handicap! Like Snowkit in the Warriors books.))
The raincloud-coloured kit jumped when he heard his name. He looked up, amber eyes wide in his small face.
It's my turn?
He wondered, apprehensively, who his mentor would be. He hoped...he hoped it was someone nice. Someone who wouldn't bully him just because he couldn't talk, or because he looked different.
He hoped it was someone who would like him.
A moment's hesitation - and Slatekit stepped out of the den and into the sunlight, blinking nervously. He padded forward, tail just brushing the downtrodden dust, not aware of the anxiety his body language showed.

[glow=black,3,300]Morningkit slept quietly, not aroused by any thing yet. It was strange antics for the felidae to merely not awake before the others -- especially on this. Suddenly, the kit's emerald, gleaming eyes propped open slowly. A low mew was high and adorable, but no one responded. Rising slightly, she saw the tip of a black-gray tail. Slatekit.
She followed behind, blending in with the cracked territory. The near adolescent was going to be apprenticed! Wow. This would be some fun. She stopped as the others came into view, and shyness came over her. She saw Slatekit hesitate, but nudged him in the rump to get a move on and quickly followed him.
If she was going to become an apprentice too, then she would follow him.
"Wow, this is exciting," she whispered under her breath. "Don't be so .." but was cut off with the babbling of others. A self-concious spell casted over the feline, and immediately quickened her pace and hid as most as she could by the Highrock.[/glow]

(Ah sorry)
Foxstar smiled her slanted eyes looking both interested and distant somehow as she peered down at the kit as though she could see into the future and was amused at what would become of him. "Slatekit you've shown to be very adept at using your strengths to overcome your disability, I hope your new mentor will help you use those strengths in ways that benefits you, and your clan".
She turned upon Firestorm now not knowing whether or not the she cat expected to be picked, she did not forewarn her mentors but merely so to it they showed up.
"Firestorm you are a strong willed huntress and a strong asset to this clan, I hope you can use your abilities to help and improve Slatekit's difficult training".
Training Slatekit would be stressful as he lacked the ability to speak and to offer his mentor feed back but Foxstar appeared to have confidence in them both.
Then she dropped into the formality of the ceremony her voice high and stern like a sharp bell. Despite being wet behind the ears in the leader business she was a marvelous public speaker. She could make you believe a rose was a toadstool if she tried hard enough.
" I call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this kit. He would like to become a warrior of Thunderclan, but must first become an apprentice. Slatekit, from this day forth, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Slatepaw. Firestorm will mentor you, and teach you to be a warrior, following the Warrior code that has been passed through the generations"

Firestorm's eyes grew wide. She hadn't expected to be picked, especially with Slatekit's disability and her lack of experiance. Her sister, Creamshadow, gave her a small nudge. Firestorm gave her chest fur a few, rapid licks, then stood up, her tail held high, and padded over to Slatekit, waiting as she had in her first ceremony.
She gently touched noses with little Slatekit. A sudden excitment rushed through her, ruffling her pelt, like a forest fire spreading as it does.

Slatekit - no, Slatepaw, now, he reminded himself - had leapt forward when Morningkit nudged him, and gazed wondering up at Foxstar as she spoke the time-honoured ritual words of the ceremony. His eyes went instantly to Firestorm.
A shiver seemed to shoot through the small kit, making him tremble from eartips to tailtip, as he touched noses with his new mentor.
An apprentice, now.
Searching himself for some hint of excitement and enthusiasm, he found only anxiety that swallowed his heart...
He remembered, like that time when it rained and I was playing in the mud and there was this deep place where I got sucked down and stuck and I was scared, scared and trapped...
Yes, that was how he felt now. He was sure it was showing on his face.
He hoped Firestorm would be kind.

[glow=lightgreen,1,300]Morningkit huddled by the rock, how ever, she had made herself a fool as she could not squeeze between the rock and the tree. Her tail wouldn't fit, let alone body, and if it did, it wouldn't be a pretty sight. She chuckled extremely nervously and stared down at her paws. She heard the ceremony, and her heart hammered hard in her chest like a needle of a pine tree piercing her. She looked up at Foxstar; and felt like she couldn't breath.
Maybe Slatekit -- Slatepaw, she corrected herself, had been feeling the exact same thing. "Foxstar," she mewed softly. "What about me?" She asked and quivered slightly, exuberance and excitement consumed her, and she nearly wriggled from her fur as a cold shudder was drove up her spine despite the greenleaf temperatures.[/glow]

"Slatepaw"! she called from the Highrock, a smile on her narrow blood red face.
Foxstar's gaze rested on Morningkit, eleven moons old but still sort of small. She realized it would do them both good to have eachother in apprentice hood. Besides this was as ready as Morningkit would ever be, it was time to stop procrastinating.
She cleared her throat and her gaze swept around the clearing for a suitable mentor, no she would have to have more time to think about it, it wouldn't be fair to Morningkit to decide on spot like this.
"Soon small one, very soon" she promised before she went stiff, a signal for her clan to be silent.

The mute kitten looked up when Foxstar called his name, involuntarily flinching. He...he'd always ben a little frightened of the foxy leader. Her appearance did not necessarily mean she was as sly and cruel as a fox, but...oh, well.
What...what does she want? Wariness and apprehension shone in his golden eyes.
